Laser Therapy For San Diego & Solana Beach
High Power Laser Therapy Treating Pain and Even Toenail Fungus
Acacia Wellness Center, located in Solana Beach is one of only a handful of San Diego area clinics using the Class IV K-Laser. The K-Laser employs a high power heat laser in protocols designed to reduce and relieve pain as well as encourage tissue regeneration and healing. The K-Laser which provides High Power Laser Therapy (HPLT) offers relief of pain from a variety of conditions, including tendonitis, bursitis, nerve pain, plantar fascitis, arthritis pain, TMJ....and much more.
The K-Laser is now also being used (off label) with onychomycosis or toenail fungus by many doctors across the US and in San Diego with success rates of 70-80% based on pilot studies conducted by DPM podiatrists and anecdotal reports. Onychomycosis, known also as toenail fungus, affects approximately 25-30 million people in the US, thats 250-300 million toes! Unfortunately, most current treatment options are less than ideal, and have only so-so success rates. The advantage of the laser is that it is affordable (less than $500 for a typical treatment protocol), has absolutely zero side effects, and is completely painless. San Diego, your toes will thank you!! And your toenail fungus will have to find another host once the laser toenail fungus treatment begins!
Laser Therapy For Pain and Toenail Fungus
Treating toenail fungus with oral antifungal medications is one option, but these drugs are quite toxic and must be taken for up to 12 months continuously. They also require that the patient receive monthly liver enzyme checks to see if the drugs are damaging the liver. Topical preparations are another option, but require daily application for months and have relatively low success rates. The K-Laser can offer a relatively inexpensive, safe and pain free approach for toenail fungus in San Diego.
The primary biological action of the K-Laser results from stimulation of cellular transport mechanisms in the mitochondria, cell membranes and epithelial tissues. This action causes the release of vasodilating chemicals, the stimulation of DNA and RNA synthesis, an increase in enzyme production, an increase of superoxide dismutase activity, normalization of tissue pH, and increased ATP production. The increase of vasodilatation (blood supply) and improved microcirculation will increase the supply of cellular nutrition promoting tissue repair and remodeling. Significant reduction in edema (swelling) has been noted as well as tissues are better able to move fluids out through lymphatic drainage pathways.
Treatment for pain is performed by the doctor or technician by placing the laser in contact with the skin allowing the photon energy to penetrate tissue, where it interacts with various intracellular bio molecules resulting in the restoration of normal cell function. This enhances the body’s natural healing processes and essentially speeds the process. Using the K-laser, light energy is converted into biochemical energy, this is known as photobiomodulation. The process results in a disappearance of symptoms and increases the speed at which your body heals. Additionally, the immune system response is stimulated, Lymphatic drainage is improved, production of growth hormone is increased, and the body’s natural healing processes are enhanced.
The Physiological Effects of Laser Therapy:
- Biostimulation including improved metabolism & increased cell metabolism
- Improved blood circulation and vasodilatation
- Analgesic effect
- Anti-inflammatory and anti- edematous effects
- Stimulation of wound healing
- Relieves acute and chronic pains
- Increases the speed, quality and tensile strength of tissue repair
- Increases blood supply
- Stimulates the immune system
- Stimulates nerve function
- Develops collagen and muscle tissue
- Helps generate new and healthy cells and tissue
- Promotes faster wound healing and clot formation
- Reduces inflammation
The Biochemical Effects of Laser Therapy
- Releases Nitric Oxide
- Increase ATP Production
- Increase Fibroblast Migration
- Increase Macrophage activity
- Increase Keratinocyte activity
- Increase RNA DNA Synthesis
- Increase EnzymeProduction
- Increase SOD Production
One key of the K-Laser is its increased power of a maximum of 15 watts atthe Super-Pulse setting. This allows for greatly increased therapeutic dosing of laser light and significantly greater depth of penetration into target tissue, with reduced treatment times as short as 5-15 minutes. With no pain, discomfort or side effects.
The K-Laser at Acacia Wellness Center in San Diego offers a novel approach to both chronic and acute or traumatic pain symptoms, as well as interesting alternatives to toenail fungus treatment and much more. Please call or email us today to set up a consultation.
